Translation workshop on German books for children, Amburgo (25-30/08)

Translation workshop on German books for children and
young people (Hamburg, 25-30 August 2013)

From 25-30 August 2013 the Robert Bosch Stiftung and the Arbeitskreis für
Jugendliteratur e.V. will organize the fourth edition of a workshop on the
translation of German literature for children and young people. The workshop
is aimed especially at professional translators from Central, Eastern or
Southern Europe, but is open for all languages. It will take place in
Hamburg (Germany).

Participants will obtain a travelling allowance. Accommodation and meals
during the workshop will be free of charge.

Application forms can be sent in by email and should be received on 2 May
2013.

BCLT Literary Translation Summer School 2013, Norwich (21-27/07)

BCLT Literary Translation Summer School, 21-27 July 2013 at University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK
Bringing together writers and translators for a week of workshops, discussions and readings

We will be offering workshops in translation from Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian and Portuguese into English, as well as advanced workshops for translation from German, Japanese and Spanish. These will be open to translators who have previously attended a Summer School, or who have experience of literary translation at an equivalent level. The workshops will be led by award-winning translators –Âᅠ Anne McLean, Jeffrey Angles, Daniel Hahn and others –Âᅠtogether with authors including Javier Montes, Cristhiano Aguiar, Kari Fredrikke Brænne, Johanna Holmström and Daniela Droescher.

Translation Research Summer School 2013, Hong Kong (Jul-Aug 2013)

Successfully launched in 2009, The HONG KONG TRANSLATION RESEARCH SUMMER
SCHOOL – TRSS (HK) – is based at the Centre for Translation, Hong Kong
Baptist University. TRSS (HK) is run in conjunction with the UK TRSS
programme, and offers a two-week course in Hong Kong, providing intensive
research training in translation and intercultural studies for prospective
researchers in the field. Teaching is conducted in English.

Residenze disponibili presso il Banff International Literary Translation Centre, Canada

The Banff International Literary Translation Centre in Canada offers
residency to literary translators from Canada, Mexico, and the United States
translating from any language, as well as to international translators
working on literature from the Americas. The primary focus of the residency
is to afford working and professional literary translators a period of
uninterrupted work on a current project. The program is open to literary
translators who have published at least one book-length literary translation
or the equivalent thereof.

Applications for the next period have to be sent in before 15 february 2013.

Vincitori European Union Prize for Literature

I vincitori dell’edizione 2012 dell’European Union Prize for Literature (EUPL), che seleziona i migliori autori emergenti in Europa, sono stati annunciati alla Fiera del Libro di Francoforte.

L’edizione di quest’anno premia anche un autore italiano, Emanuele Trevi. Gli altri vincitori sono Anna Kim (Austria), Lada Žigo (Croazia), Laurence Plazenet (Francia), Viktor Horváth (Ungheria), Kevin Barry (Irlanda), Giedra Radvilaviciute (Lituania), Gunstein Bakke (Norvegia), Piotr Pazinski (Polonia), Afonso Cruz (Portogallo), Jana Benová (Slovacchia) e Sara Mannheimer (Svezia). Oltre ad un premio in denaro ad ogni vincitore sarà data la priorità nell’accedere ai fondi del Programma Cultura, ovvero la possibilità di essere tradotti in ognuna e da ciascuna delle lingue ufficiali dell’Unione Europea.
