TRANSLATION MASTERCLASSES
London Review Bookshop Masterclasses
The London Review Bookshop is continuing its successful 2013-14 season of
translation masterclasses with leading literary translators, run in
association with the British Centre of Literary Translation. There are still
spaces available for masterclasses in March and April.
We are offering Saturday masterclass sessions working from French and German
into English. All the masterclasses will cover a range of topics, including
colloquial language, slang, voice, style and punctuation.
Monday evenings will be open to translators working out of any language into
English. These masterclasses will explore particular translation challenges
that translators face when working with any language; ways of tackling puns
and word play, how to convey a writer’s use of non-standard language without
it sounding simply wrong, dealing with dialogue and colloquial speech, and
approaches to translating for children.
