The Future of Culture, the Future of Europe
4-5 April 2014
The French Ministry of Culture and Communication organizes on the 4th and
5th of April at the Palais de Chaillot in Paris a Forum entitled “Future of
Culture, Future of Europe”.
For this occasion, one day and a half of debates on the future of cultural
policies in Europe will be held, along with a meeting of the European
ministers of culture at the initiative of the French Minister.
Following the discussions concerning the cultural exception that have marked
the European debate, this meeting should strengthen the importance of
culture and its essential role at the European level, specifically regarding
the new digital issues.
This Forum will be a moment of European mobilization for culture and will
give the floor to those who are making the culture in Europe. It will bring
together European creators and intellectuals, policy makers and culture
professionals, who will be discussing with the ministers, the members of
parliament and the European commissioners. While the cultural players had to
fight too often to make Brussels acknowledge the importance of their issues,
2014, which is an election year, must be the starting point of a shared
dynamic about culture as a concern for the future for Europe.
